I found this very interesting food combination chart here. It is very similar to the one within my vegetarian recipes cookbook 'Il cucchiaio verde' (The Green Tablespoon) that that is my bible for healthy cooking and good food combination and realized how much I've changed my eating habits since the bento challenge had begun. One of my 'rules' was never to eat pasta and meat/fish/eggs within the same meal and althought having in my bentobox several mini portions of different things is quite appealing and really delicious and tasty, I'm considering going back to my former habits and try to put in every meal either proteins or carbohidrates (not both of them) and many different vegetables. Let's see what will happen!
But..for today's bento it was a little too late! The tagliatelle with tomato sauce and meatballs (pasta+meat) that I will eat for lunch seem to be the worst combination for health.

I'll try to be more careful (exept when I eat onigiri filled with salmon!)
An interesting sheet here (in Italian)

I'm a bit surprise about your food combination. Is the first time I here about it. Do you have any reason why?
quiting from the bentopool :-): I have read in several magazines&cookbooks that carbohydrate is digested within 2 hrs, more or less, while protein takes around 3 hrs: eating them in the same meal makes digestion longer and plus I have read that there is a kind of struggle between different digestive enzyme (alkaline versuse acid) and they kind of neutralize each other which seems to be no good -_- but I will search for more information, it may not be true. for now, I'm trying with a smaller bento container and smaller meat portions and see what happens :-)
Hey! Go veg! ;) But you'll still be eating some proteins while eating carb (as cereals have proteins in it, not as complete as meat but still, and if you add pulses to your cereals you'll have complete proteins)...so still quite surprise. Let me know about your research in this domain!
Dear Zoe! I'm thinking about it :-) I followed a vegetarian diet for three years a while ago, but when I found out about my coeliac desease and had to quit so many other things, I started eating meats and fish again..guess I need to ger re-organized, I think it will take me some time but I can manage to do it :-) (as for the food combination, I will try to find a reliable source of information and see what's better!) thanks for visiting :-)
